Overview
Arxivo is a native iOS app for discovering and reading academic papers. We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about our data practices.
Arxivo does not collect, store, or share any personal information with third parties.
Data We Access
Arxivo accesses the following data to provide its core functionality:
- Search Queries: Your search terms are sent directly to academic databases (arXiv, PubMed, etc.) to retrieve results. We do not store or log these queries.
- Downloaded Papers: PDFs you download are stored locally on your device and in your iCloud account if enabled.
- Library Data: Your saved papers, favorites, and reading history are stored locally using SwiftData and optionally synced via iCloud.
Third-Party Services
Arxivo connects to the following academic databases to search and retrieve papers:
- arXiv (arxiv.org)
- PubMed (pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov)
- Semantic Scholar (semanticscholar.org)
- OpenAlex (openalex.org)
- CrossRef (crossref.org)
- CORE (core.ac.uk)
Each of these services has their own privacy policies. We encourage you to review them if you have concerns.
iCloud Sync
If you have iCloud enabled, your library data (saved papers, favorites, reading history) will sync across your devices using Apple's CloudKit service. This data is stored securely in your personal iCloud account and is not accessible to us.
Analytics & Tracking
Arxivo does not include any analytics SDKs or tracking tools. We do not:
- Track your usage patterns
- Collect device information
- Use advertising identifiers
- Share data with advertisers
Data Storage
All your data is stored:
- Locally: On your device using SwiftData
- iCloud: In your personal iCloud account (optional)
We do not operate any servers that store your personal data.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date.
